The characterisation plot from every transistor datasheet, generated live: sweep collector voltage on the X axis, step base current to get one curve per family value. Below ~0.2 V the device is saturated; above it, collector current is β times base current and nearly flat — nearly, because the Early effect tilts each plateau upward.
