For people coming from Multisim Live
A free Multisim Live alternative that runs in your browser
OurCircuits is a free schematic editor and circuit simulator. You draw a circuit, press Run, and it solves on your own machine — no install, no account needed, no part-count cap.

Multisim Live shut down on 15 September 2026
Multisim Live was NI's browser version of Multisim: a schematic editor with SPICE simulation and circuits you could share by link. NI retired Multisim Live on 15 September 2026. Its address, multisim.com, now redirects to NI's page for desktop Multisim.
Multisim Live's pricing page listed its free tier as 5 components per circuit and 4 saved circuits (July 2026).
A Multisim Live replacement: what works the same
- It runs in your web browser — nothing to install. Tested in Chrome. Any current browser should work — tell us if yours doesn't.
- It is free. There is no part-count cap on a circuit.
- You draw a schematic and press Run; switches, potentiometers and sources respond while it runs, and probes plot on a grapher.
- You can share a circuit as a link, or publish it to the public gallery under your username.
What you get, free
- DC sweep — output vs a swept source
- Parameter sweep — a family of curves over a second variable
- DC operating point — bias points, caps open and inductors shorted
- AC / Bode sweep — magnitude and phase, linearised at the operating point
- Flip-flops and latches — D, JK, T, SR and the transparent D latch
- Counters, adders, mux/demux — a 4-bit counter with a settable modulus, half and full adder, 2:1 and 1:2
- Clock and logic-level sources — an adjustable square wave at 0/5 V, and a fixed logic constant
- Seven-segment displays — raw, with decimal point, and BCD/hex decoded
- The 555 timer — astable and monostable, as a labelled behavioural model
- Pulse and arbitrary sources — pulse trains, and formula-defined f(t) sources
- ABM maths blocks — multiply, divide, integrate, differentiate
- Thyristors — SCR, TRIAC and GTO latch models
- PWM and phase-angle control — single and three-phase PWM, and a TRIAC dimmer
- Three-phase sources — wye with neutral, and delta
- Transformers and coupled inductors — two to eight terminals, real mutual inductance
- Op-amps, instrumentation and power amps — including a five-terminal part that clamps to its live solved rails
8 of those sat behind Multisim Live's Premium tier. One size note: a circuit has no part cap, but a share link carries up to 500 parts, and a circuit saved to an account or published must fit in 256 KB — past either, export the circuit as a file.
What OurCircuits doesn't do — yet, or on purpose
Bringing a circuit across: SPICE netlist text
OurCircuits cannot open Multisim Live's .msjs or .ms14 files. It reads SPICE netlist text: in the simulator, choose New Circuit → Paste a SPICE netlist, paste the lines, and the parts are placed and wired by net name. Not everything comes across, and some of it is lost quietly: simulation directives and .model/.lib parameters are not read (a transistor whose part name is not recognised imports as NPN or N-channel), a transistor's fourth pin and an op-amp's supply pins are not connected, pulse timing is simplified, and anything unsupported is placed on the sheet as a note. Check the values after importing.

Verified on 29 October 2026. Each cell is what that product's own website (or, for CircuitJS, its official code repository) showed that day; “not stated” means we could not find it there, not that the feature is missing. Prices and plans change — check their sites.
Questions
What is the best free Multisim alternative?
It depends on what you used Multisim for. For drawing and simulating circuits in a browser with nothing to install, OurCircuits is free with no part-count cap, and Falstad's CircuitJS is free and open source — the comparison table on this page lists what each site states about itself. If you need manufacturer part models or RF analysis, a desktop SPICE program is the better fit.
What is the closest replacement for Multisim Live?
Multisim Live was a browser schematic editor with SPICE analyses and circuits you could share. OurCircuits covers the same ground for free: draw, simulate in the browser, change values while it runs, plot the results, share a link, publish to a gallery. It cannot open Multisim Live's own files; CircuitSim (circuitsim.com) says it can import them.
Is Multisim Live shut down?
Yes. NI retired Multisim Live on 15 September 2026, and multisim.com now redirects to NI's desktop Multisim page.
Can I import my Multisim Live circuits?
Not the .msjs or .ms14 files — OurCircuits cannot read them. If you have a SPICE netlist as text (desktop Multisim exports one), paste it in and the parts are placed and wired by net name. Otherwise rebuild the circuit: most student circuits are under twenty parts.
Do I need to install anything or make an account?
No. OurCircuits runs in the browser, with nothing to install. Tested in Chrome. Any current browser should work — tell us if yours doesn't. You can draw and simulate without an account; your circuits are saved in your browser. A free account backs up to 10 circuits and lets you publish to the gallery.
Three circuits to open first
- RC low-pass filter — the cutoff where the output falls to 70.7 %
- Full-wave bridge rectifier — four diodes and a reservoir capacitor turn AC into DC, with ripple at twice the line frequency
- Inverting amplifier — an op-amp stage whose gain is −Rf/Rin
Try it
Open the simulator and draw something, or start from one of the circuits above. No sign-up is needed to simulate.
